A Peregrine Falcon Hunts at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge
On August 16, 2025, a very alert peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus) was perched on a snag tree over the West Pond at Jamaica Bay. These super-fast raptors hunt medium-size birds, and this falcon was taking his time to choose what to have for lunch.

Peregrine Falcons Hunt in All Five Boroughs, and in the Palisades
I am very behind in posting photos of the peregrine falcons I have seen, but will try to post more soon. In the meantime, here are some photos of a Central Park peregrine falcon, and a video of a young peregrine falcon seen on the beach at Breezy Point on December 27, 2018. I later saw the young hawk on the beach.
